Florence

My wife and I went to Europe last Fall. We spent a weekn in Paris, France. Then took the TGV to Milan and went on to Florence to spend another week of vacation in the center of all things good about Western Culture.

These images were taken using the Mamiya 7 with 50mm L and 80mm L lenses. I used several film types, including Kodak TMax400, Tri-X, and TMax. Tripods were not allowed in many places, so I spent most of my time handholding the camera. This is not my favorite pastime. But in this case, the results are quite nice. Well, at least to me.

The 11x14 prints that I have made here are beautiful. I printed to Ilford Warmtone Multigrade Glossy Double Weight paper. Processing took place in Kodak Dektol or Ilford Multigrade developer and toned in Rapid Selenium Toner at 20:1 dilution, 75degrees F, for 7 minutes. The warm tones are just what I was looking for.

I remember seeing photos of this statue in history books.
It's even better in person.

We went looking for the Grotto and found this instead.

Il Porcellino draws quite a crowd.

11 ce church - Mamiya 7, 50mm L
The monks were chanting their noon time prayers. It was
incredible to hear. And there were no tourists.

The monks were still chanting. My wife and I were only two
of maybe six people visiting the site.
